Established in 1987, Transylvania Regional Hospital Philanthropy office has provided vital financial support to Transylvania Regional Hospital's Critical Funding Needs. Through funding these needs, this hospital is able to maintain, expand and improve the quality and sustainability of healthcare services provided close to home.
Critical Funding Needs
Mission Health System is the state’s sixth-largest health system and the region’s only not-for-profit, independent community hospital system governed and managed exclusively in western North Carolina.
As a not-for-profit organization, Mission Health System reinvests all funds directly back into the healthcare system. As a “safety net” hospital, Mission provides high quality and compassionate health care regardless of ability to pay. Each year, Mission delivers more than $70 million in community benefit, which includes charity and uncompensated care. To provide outstanding care to all, as well as continually advance knowledge and medical opportunities Mission must rely on funding from individuals and foundations. Philanthropic support provides funding for the gaps that occur throughout the organization. The critical funding needs, also known as cases for support, are the strategic needs of each program.
